Marketing for your business is sort of like a gym mebership in that you invest in it hoping to get amazing results.

Still, if you don’t actually put the effort in and use it properly, then all you are doing is paying for the potential with no return on your investment at all.

The truth is that most companies are only scratching the surface of how much potential their marketing materials can have, and that means that, whether it’s flyers, blog posts, video guides or infographics, their stuff is working way less hard than it could, or should be.

It’s time to change that. It’s time to squeeze every drop of potential from your marketing materials. It’s time to do it right now…

1. Stop Creating, Start Repurposing

If you’re reinventing the wheel every time you post, you’re wasting precious time (and probably losing your mind). Got a killer blog post? Turn it into an infographic, a short video, a podcast script, or a series of bite-sized social media posts. Good content is like a lasagna – layered, rich, and best when reheated in different forms.

2. Think Evergreen, Not Expiry Date

Avoid one-hit wonders. Instead of putting hours into a flyer for that one upcoming event, focus on materials with long-term relevance. Create timeless how-to guides, FAQs, explainer videos, or case studies that can keep working for you long after they launch. That way, your marketing keeps going, even when you’re binge-watching reality TV instead of working late.

3. Make Everything More Accessible (And SEO-Friendly, Too)

A video might be flashy and fun, but without captions or a written version, you’re excluding people… and missing search traffic. Add subtitles, write a summary, and yes, use transcription services to make your audio or video content accessible to everyone (and findable by Google). It’s not just inclusive, it’s genius.

4. Use Automation Like a Marketing Intern Who Never Sleeps

If your social media posts are still being manually uploaded at 10 p.m., we need to talk. Scheduling tools exist for a reason. Use them. You can also automate email campaigns, follow-up sequences, and lead-nurturing funnels to keep your content working 24/7 – no coffee breaks required.

5. Test, Track, and Tweak (Repeat as Needed)

Your marketing materials should be doing more than just sitting there looking pretty. Are they actually converting? Use A/B testing, click tracking, and feedback tools to figure out what’s working and what’s just taking up digital space. Then adjust. Better ROI, fewer wasted efforts, and suddenly you’re the marketing genius you always knew you could be.

6. Make Every Piece of Content a Gateway

Every flyer, blog, and brochure should guide people somewhere – your website, your shop, your booking link, your inbox. Don’t let your materials exist in a vacuum. Always include a call-to-action, even if it’s as simple as “Want more? Follow us.”

7. Work Smarter, Market Harder

You don’t need more content, you need to make better use of the content you already have. With a bit of strategy, some smart tools (like transcription services), and the mindset of a marketing MacGyver, you can turn every piece of content into a multitasking superstar.

Now go forth, and make your materials hustle as hard as you do.
